How do I convert WPS files in Word 2000 format

If you used to create text documents to the WPS Microsoft Works file format, you can often maintain these documents when you switch to Microsoft Word 2000.

By default, Microsoft Word 2000 uses the DOC format compatibility for Microsoft Works files does not function. If you want to convert a .wps file in Word 2000, you must install but then the plug ins provided by Microsoft. Once installed, you can then save your WPS files to open, and in the new DOC format. Difficulty: easy

    Navigate to the Microsoft Works 6 - 9 file conversion page, and then click "Download".

    Double click the file that you downloaded as soon as it is on your computer.

  • Follow the on-screen instructions to set up the converter.

    Click "Start", then "all programs", then "Microsoft Word 2000".

    Click "File" and then "open".

  • Click the file type drop-down menu and select "All files and folders." Navigate to your WPS file, and then double-click it.

    Click "File", then "save under".

  • Click the file type drop-down menu and select "Microsoft Word (.doc) Document." Select a path and a name for your converted document. Click on "Save".
