To open a DOTX

A Word document template is designed to save you time.

These models already contain all elements of the design and formatting for the type of document that you create. Word provides default templates as a curriculum vitae, the orders of the day and protocols. You can create your own custom and templates. DOTX file format was introduced in the following Microsoft Office 2007. Unfortunately can not earlier versions of Microsoft Word DOTX files open without the Compatibility Pack. Open Microsoft Word.

Click "File" or "Microsoft Office".

Select the "Open" menu.

Locate the file.

Click "Open".

Previous versions of Microsoft

Find on the Microsoft Download Center Web site.

Type "Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel and PowerPoint file formats" in the "Search" box.

Click on the link and press "Download".

Click "Run" to download the software. Confirm the installation when you are prompted for permission.

By ticking the box, accept the terms of the Microsoft.

Click on "continue". Click "OK".

Open Microsoft Word.

Click on the "File" at the top menu. Select "Open". Locate the file. Click "Open".
