Replace Normal.Dot in Word 2000

The normal template (normal.dot) in Microsoft Word provides the basis for an initial document settings, including the police, the page orientation and line spacing.

This model is a global model since that is the basis for most of the documents and it adjustments, such as styles, macros, or AutoText entry stores. Normal be damaged by many factors, including the virus or conflicting orders. Repair usually means to replace a normal.dot. But not immediately delete the old version. Name the template normal.dot, move all customizations to the new normal.dot is created automatically when you open Word. Difficulty: average

    Rename normal.dot

    Close Word.

Open Windows Explorer, by clicking "Start" in the left corner and select "Programs". Click on "Accessories" and then "Windows Explorer"

    Go to "C:\Documents and Settings Data\Microsoft\Templates."

  • According to Microsoft, where the template normal.dot is. If the file does not exist, you can locate, by "Start" button and click on "search". Type "Normal" and click "search".

    Right click on the "normal.dot" and click on "Rename".

  • Type a new name for the template normal.dot as normal.old.

    Open Word.

  • The program takes a new normal.dot as a model for a new document automatically.

    Using the Organizer

    Start Word.

  • Click on "Tools" on the standard toolbar and then clecken on "Macros." ClicKen on "Macro", and then click the button "Multimedia". The dialog box is displayed. Click on the "Styles" tab

    On the page left "styles in available"-drop-down menu, and choose the template normal.dot (if required).

  • When "styles in available"-drop-down menu and select the renamed Normal template. The old template styles appear in the box above. Choose a style, and then click "Copy" to move the style in the template normal.dot. Once you are finished, move the styles, click AutoText, and move the inserts in the same way. You can move macros and custom toolbars in the Organizer.

    Then click "Close" when you are finished, move the adjustments you need to the new normal.dot.
